Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 33-megawatt (MW) St. Columban windfarm began commercial operations this month in Huron County, Ontario. The windfarm is owned and operated by Veresen Incorporated (Calgary, Alberta).
Located in the Municipality of Huron East, Municipality of Morris-Turnberry, and Township of Howick, the windfarm operation will sell energy to the Ontario Power Authority under a 20-year agreement. The windfarm uses 15 wind turbines from Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany).
The feed-in-tariff (FIT) project had a total investment value of $79 million.
Mortenson Construction (Minneapolis, Minnesota) completed the project earlier this summer.
