The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Panda Energy International, Incorporated (Dallas, Texas), a Private Energy Producer (PEP), plans over 26,000 mega-watts (MW) of new power generation to be located in the Rocky Mountains, Southwest, Southeast, Mid-West, Great lakes, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast Regions of the United States totaling over $5 billion and due to be online between 2003 and 2005.
Panda currently has joint venture projects with TECO Power Services Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TECO Energy, Incorporated (NYSE: TE) (Tampa, Flor.) for a 2,200MW natural gas-fired electric power plant to be located in El Dorado, Arkansas and a 2,080MW natural gas-fired electric power plant to be located in Gila Bend, Arizona. Both facilities are currently under construction. Panda Energy has also formed a joint venture alliance with Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE: LNT) (Madison, Wis.) to build a power plant.
Panda Energy, which was founded in 1982 and currently has 160 employees, provides financing, development, construction, operation, and management of electrical power generating facilities. Their primary focus is the development, ownership, and operation of state-of-the-art, environmentally clean, low-cost power plants. Panda has over 9,000MW of new power generation either under construction or in commercial operation. In addition, there are another 10,000MW of electric generating capacity currently in advanced development and an additional 6,500MW in the early stages of development.
