Pennsylvania Windfarm Begins Commercial Operations

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Armenia Mountain Windfarm, located in Mainesburg, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, has commenced commercial operations. AES Armenia Mountain Wind LLC is a subsidiary of the AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia). The windfarn generates 101 megawatts (MW) through 67 General Electric (NYSE:GE) 1.5-MW sle wind turbines.

Located in the PJM Interconnection, this windfarm is under two 15-year power purchase agreements with Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (Glen Allen, Virginia) and Delmarva Power & Light Company (Wilmington, Delaware). Both companies are receiving 50% of the facility's output.
