SUGAR LAND--January 18, 2016--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Sevier County Solid Waste Authority's (Sevierville, Tennessee) plans to install a new waste-to-energy plant at the Ridge Road landfill located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee has been delayed by permitting as the city re-bids a new waterline piping project at the site.
In August, the Sevier County Solid Waste Authority announced a deal with PHG Energy LLC (Nashville, Tennessee) to install a new biomass gasification waste-to-energy facility to reduce the generation of compost that is currently being transported away from the site.
The gasification plant will process more than 30 tons per day of the compost material and turn it into biochar, which will be sold locally as a renewable fuel source and displace the use of coal. Thermal energy from the gasifiers, which PHG Energy claims are the world's largest downdraft gasification units, will be used in a thermal oxidizer promoting odor control in the buildings, and will allow the existing composting plant to defer other upgrade projects.
The final permits for the estimated $2.5 million project are expected to be approved in about two months, and construction is expected to get underway early spring of this year and be fully operational by the fall.
PHG Energy has also been busy expanding its own renewable energy offerings. In September, the company acquired the assets of ARiES Energy (Knoxville), adding significantly to its established business lines and formalizing the ongoing partnering relationship between the companies.
ARiES Energy, a solar, lighting and energy efficiency company, has provided solar photovoltaic, LED lighting, power conditioning and energy efficiency systems for commercial businesses, residences and municipalities in the Southeast. The company is best known for its innovative and economic solutions for solving energy issues. ARiES Energy has developed projects from residential solar, commercial solar, LED lighting retrofits, community solar models, power conditioning and large gasification systems.
