Phase I of China Guodian's Jiuquan Thermal Power Plant Begins Full Operations

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the successful completion of the 168-hour full-load continuous trial operation of Unit 1 on October 27, Unit 2 of GD Power Jiuquan Power Generation Company Limited's (Jiuquan, Gansu) Jiuquan thermal power plant passed the 168-hour continuous trial operation on November 27. This marks that Phase I of the power station has been put into operation, China Guodian Corporation (Beijing), the parent company of GD Power Jiuquan, announced on December 8.

During the trial operation, all technical indicators of the unit are of sound level. The average generation was 308.5 megawatts (MW) with an average load rate of 93.49%; the comprehensive plant service power consumption ratio reached 9.5% (including power consumption for flue gas desulfurization and denitration devices, but excluding heat supply); the average hydrogen supplement for generation reached 3.6 cubic meters per day; desulfurization efficiency reached more than 98%, and the denitration efficiency reached more than 80%.

GD Power Jiuquan is a wholly owned subsidiary of GD Power Development Company Limited (SHA:600795) (Beijing) , the listed flagship of China Guodian Corporation. The Jiuquan Thermal Power Plant is located in the industrial park about 8 kilometers south of Jiuquan downtown, where is about 5 kilometers to Jiuquan Railway Station and 20 kilometers to Jiayuguan Airport. The project is furnished with two 330-MW subcritical direct air-cooling coal-fired units with associated heat-supply pipelines to supply heat and power to the local industrial park. Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (Xi'an, Shaanxi) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project. Sichuan No.2 Electric Power Construction Company Limited (Chengdu, Sichuan), with the assistance of other contractors, is responsible for the construction of the project. Construction of the project was officially kicked off in September 2009.

Following the completion of Phase I, China Guodian's controllable installed capacity reached 31,303.6 MW, including 2,302.2 MW of thermal power.
