Power Output from Central China's Power Grid Maintains Fast Growth in December 2007

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In December, the power generation output from central China's power grid reached about 45 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), up 25% year over year. Hydropower output reached 6.76 billion kWh, and thermal power output reached 38.24 billion kWh, according to a monthly report from the Central China Grid Company Limited (Wuhan).

In December, the grid's maximum load reached 75.09 million kilowatts, and the monthly average load rate reached 85.37%.

Two large hydropower units and six large coal-fired units with a total installed capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) were put into operation, including the hydraulic turbine-generating units 20 and 17 of the Three Gorges hydropower project (1,400 MW). The following units also went into operation in December:

•Hefeng power plant's Unit 2 (600 MW)
•Qinbei power plant's Unit 4 (600 MW)
•Yahe power plant's Unit 3 (600 MW)
•Yaomeng power plant's Unit 6 (600 MW)
•Yiyang power plant's units 2 and 3 (both 600 MW)

Thirteen circuits of 500-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines with a length of 1,098.82 kilometers and seven 500-kV main transformers with a total rated capacity of 7,000 megavolt-amperes also went into operation in December.

The grid's total interprovince power transmission reached 3.91 billion kWh of which the power transmission from Henan to Hubei reached 1.55 billion kWh; the power transmission from Hubei to Hunan reached 1.15 billion kWh; the power transmission from Hubei to Jiangxi reached 106.56 million kWh; the power transmission from Hubei to Chongqing reached 693.48 million kWh; and the power transmission from Sichuan to Chongqing reached 405.64 million kWh.

In January 2008, the power output in the grid is expected to reach 44.93 billion kWh.
