Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In December 2007, the total power output of China's northwestern power grid reached 17.55 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), an increase of 12.8% year over year. Thermal power output reached 15.28 billion kWh, up 15.61% year over year, and hydropower output remained at 2.67 billion kWh from the previous year, according to a monthly report released on January 10, 2008, by the Northwest China Grid Company Limited (Xi'an). From January to December 2007, the accumulated power output in the grid reached 180.16 billion kWh, up 12.63% year over year.

In December 2007, the grid's maximum load reached 26.09 million kilowatts, up 12.51% year over year, and the monthly average load rate reached 90.51%.

Shaanxi Province:

•Maximum load: 9.28 million kilowatts, up 12.76% year over year
•Monthly average load rate: 84.59%

Gansu Province:

•Maximum load: 7.97 million kilowatts, up 14.51% year over year
•Monthly average load rate: 89.69%

Qinghai Province:

•Maximum load: 3.54 million kilowatts, up 14.94% year over year
•Monthly average load rate: 94.67%

Ningxia Autonomous Region:

•Maximum load: 5.83 million kilowatts, up 8.16% year over year
•Monthly average load rate: 94.87%

The maximum daily power consumption of the grid reached 564.4 million kWh, and daily average power consumption reached 555.19 million kWh, an increase of 13.39% year over year.

The total power transmission from the grid to central China's power grid reached 275.74 million kWh, and the total interprovince power transmission in China's northwestern power grid reached 368.46 million kWh. Exports from Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia reached 171.51 million kWh, 110.50 million kWh and 86.45 million kWh, respectively.

In January 2008, interprovince power transmission is expected to be 380 million kWh, power transmission to the central grid will be 267.84 million kWh, and the output of power plants is expected to be 5.5 billion kWh.
