PPL Corporation Begins Construction of New 600MW Power Plant in Pennsylvania

The Lower Mount Bethel Plant located in Bangor, Pennsylvania on Depues Ferry Road started construction in November 2001 and is scheduled to be in commercial operation in the third quarter of 2003 with 25 to 30 full time employees.

The combined cycle plant will consist of two units utilizing Siemens Westinghouse W501FD combustion turbines and one Siemens Westinghouse KN steam turbine. Foster Wheeler Incorporated (NYSE: FWC) (Clinton, N.J.) was awarded the engineering and construction contract.
