San Diego Region Concrete Block Manufacturer to Build New Plant Close to the Border

Family owned, RCP Block & Brick Incorporated (Lemon Grove, California) is planning to construct a new concrete block manufacturing plant in Otay Mesa, California. RCP has selected Casey Development Incorporated (San Diego, California) as the general contractor for the project and Casey will be in charge of infrastructure improvements to the site as well as erection of the building shell. The companies are awaiting final approvals and expect construction to begin within the next two months.

The 54,000 square foot building shell will be constructed on 16 acres of land in the Otay Mesa enterprise zone. Otay Mesa is home to several maquiladoras manufacturing sites on both sides of the border. Otay Mesa is home to Honeywell, Howard Leight and Casio as well as other manufacturing operations.

RCP Block & Brick hopes to be up and operating in the new $6.6 million plant by the first quarter of 2004. RCP Block operates and existing concrete block and brick manufacturing plant in Santee, California. Last year RCP sold 26 million standard blocks and had sales of about $60 million.
