Saudi Aramco has awarded the major contracts for the Marjan Onshore project in Saudi Arabia. The five onshore packages make up the oil and gas surface facilities required for the Marjan development. Italy's Saipem is believed to have won package 10, while Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas is thought to be well-placed for packages 9 and 11. Meanwhile, South Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the front runner for packages 6 and 12.

Package 6 involves a new oil processing train, a gas compression train, crude storage and associated infrastructure to handle an additional 300,000 barrels per day of oil.

Packages 9, 10, 11 and 12 are said to include gas facilities. Of the packages, the key one is number 9, which calls for a new onshore plant and includes work on inlet, storage and compression facilities. Package 10 includes gas treatment and sulfur recovery facilities, while package 11 involves recovery and fractionation facilities, and package 12 covers utilities and flare facilities.
