Second International Conference on New Energy Held in China's Wuxi City

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The second China New Energy International Forum was held in mid-December in eastern China's Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province. The forum called for China's new energy industry to be better organized and to be more active regarding global climate change. Huang Mengfu, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (AFIC), was among the leaders and officers who attended the opening ceremony.

Climate change and energy are some of the Chinese government's main issues of focus. New energy, such as solar and wind, will be the major trend in development, Huang Mengfu said. It is expected that the usage of new energy will account for 10% of total energy consumption in China in 2010, and the proportion is expected to increase to 15% in 2020. The biggest bottleneck in restricting the development of new energy is the technology, as well as the capability in research and development.

The forum's subject was "Global Climate Change and the Responsibility of New Energy." Officers, industrial giants, experts and representatives from all over the world discussed ideas over support policies, technology and the market, the financing channel, as well as opportunities and challenges for the industry. The forum also featured workshops on solar energy, biomass energy, wind power, climate change and financial capital.

The forum was jointly sponsored by the New Energy Chamber of Commerce, AFIC and the People's Government of Wuxi City. The New Energy Chamber of Commerce and AFIC, proposed the establishment of the a special commission on climate change and revealed the annual report on China New Energy Industry 2007 during the conference.
