Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Bioenergy solutions developer S.G. Preston Company (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) plans to build renewable diesel plants in Ohio and Indiana.
The company and the Lawrence County Economic Development Council said 62 acres in the South Point Industrial Park, located in South Point, Ohio, would be the site for a $400 million waste-to-energy plant. According to the developers, the industrial park offers a skilled labor force and logistics infrastructure, including barge and container-ship capabilities on the Ohio River, and access to a Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE:NSC) (Norfolk, Virginia) line and Interstate Highway 64.
The SGP South Point waste-to-energy plant would process 3,000 tons per day of municipal solid waste into 120 million gallons per year of renewable diesel and jet fuel. S.G. Preston has an option to acquire the land and is interviewing potential turn-key engineering, procurement and construction contractors.
Construction could begin as early as late third-quarter 2015, and the plant could begin operations by the spring of 2017.
S.G. Preston also is working to secure a site for a renewable diesel plant that would be located in Logansport, Indiana, along the banks of the Wabash River. The company received a $550,000 loan approval from the City of Logansport.
Like the Ohio project, the Logansport facility would process 120 million gallons per year of renewable diesel and jet fuel, from 3,000 tons per day of municipal waste.
Nothing has been officially secured for the Logansport project. If the site is ultimately selected, construction could begin as early as mid-2016 and be completed by the end of 2017.
