Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Solicore, Incorporated (Lakeland, Florida) a privately owned company, is in the early planning stages to construct a commercial scale specialty polymers production plant in central Florida. This new plant will produce polymers used in Solicore's innovative electrolyte technology producing dry, flexible, and solid batteries.
An exact plant site has not been selected although a site in the Bartow, Florida area is very likely. Solicore currently operates a small demonstration scale production unit in Lakeland and this new plant is expected to cost in excess of $15 million to construct and consist of an approximately 13,000 square foot building when completed. Approvals and selection of a design-build firm are expected late this year with construction beginning in the spring of 2004.
Solicore's goal is to develop and produce lighter and more compact battery products that are environmentally friendly and safer to handle while meeting the needs of a growing and demanding battery market.
