Initial plans include the construction of a 60,000 square foot warehouse and the installation of new injection molding machines in their existing injection molding facility. In addition, Stihl Incorporated is looking at sites in the Oceana West Industrial Park for potential additional expansion in the future.
Current plans are to begin construction of the warehouse in early 2004 and installation of the injection molding machines in the summer of 2004. The warehouse should be completed in late 2004.
Stihl Incorporated is a one of seven manufacturing facilities in the Stihl Group (Waiblingen, Germany) and began manufacturing in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1974 as the Stihl Group's first, and only, United States manufacturing location. Stihl Incorporated employs approximately 1,100 people and maintains a 60 acre site with almost a half million sqft of manufacturing and warehouse space. Stihl Incorporated manufactures precision hand tools, chain saws, trimmers, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, blowers, construction tools, augers/drills, accessories, protective apparel/forestry equipment and chain/guide bar replacement parts.
