Texas May Get $20 Million Aircraft System Manufacturing Plant

L-3 Communications Holdings, Incorporated (NYSE: LLL)(New York, New York) is currently planning to construct a $20 million aircraft manufacturing plant. The company is waiting on final approvals to locate the plant at the Texas State Technical College Airport near U.S. Highway 84 in Waco, Texas. Phase I Construction is anticipated to start during the fall of 2004 and will consist of a 70,000 square foot hangar and warehouse to accommodate huge jets. A general contractor will be selected in 45-60 days after final approvals and designs are completed. Phase II is expected to start in 2005. Initially, 140 jobs will be created and 520 jobs will be created over the next couple of years.

They make secure and specialized systems for satellite, avionics and marine communications. Customers include the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, selected United States government intelligence agencies and aerospace prime contractors. Commercial products include flight recorders (black boxes), display systems, and wireless telecom gear.
