Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Triumph Foods LLC (Saint Joseph, Missouri), which opened its first facility in Saint Joseph just under a year ago, is well on track to break ground on new planned facility in East Moline within a couple of months. Late last month, the company announced that it has signed purchase contracts to buy the 116-acre site along Barstow Road, where it envisages building its second slaughtering and processing pork plant.
Although preliminary approval has been granted to build the plant, it is important to point out that the project still faces controversy from residents in the East Moline area and environmentalists, who raised concern about foul odors and possible environmental impacts for nearby homes and watersheds.
Triumph Foods LLC is a new-established company with some 40-member ownership groups owning about 330,000 sows, total. Some of the most notable shareholder members include members from the industry's Pork Powerhouse 2004. They are Christensen Farms, The Hanor Company, TriOak Foods, New Fashion Pork, Eichelberger Farms, and Allied Producers Cooperative.
