Two 600-Megawatt Coal-Fired Units Begin Operation in Northern China

Uni1 of the Liulin power plant's Phase II project also passed its trial operation and was put into commercial operation in northern China's Shanxi Province on the same day as Unit 3 of the Shaanxi Guohua project. The Liulin project, invested by Shanxi International Power Huaguang Power Generation Company Limited (Shanxi), will involve two 600-MW air-cooled subcritical coal-fired units. Shanxi International is jointly established by Shanxi International Power Group Company Limited (Taiyuan, China) (50%), China Huaneng Group (Beijing) (40%) and Shanxi Coking Coal Group Company Limited (Taiyuan) (10%). The project is the first involving a 600-MW unit built through engineering, procurement and construction contracting in China. The Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (Xian, China) is the project's general contractor. Construction began in August 2005 and is expected to be complete in February 2008.
