U.S. Ethanol's Waste Beverage Ethanol Plant in Georgia Going Through Start-Up Procedures

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--U.S. Ethanol, a start-up ethanol venture between Recycle USA Incorporated (Cordele, Georgia) and partner Davis Oil Company (Perry, Georgia), is going through start-up procedures and tweaking equipment in anticipation of soon beginning ethanol production using waste beverage feedstocks.

The partnership will utilize outdated soft drinks, juice and other beverages collected at Recycle USA's recycling facility in Cordele and turn the waste stream onto ethanol. Davis Oil will then sell an ethanol-gasoline mix to stations throughout middle Georgia and the southeast. The company signed a contract to sell as much ethanol as the plant can make.

The plant is projected to have the capacity to produce 4 million to 6 million gallons of ethanol annually. Construction of the plant started in February 2007 and is expected to be running at full capacity within the next 30 days. Local contractor Indacom Incorporated (Perry, Georgia) built the plant.

Unlike the gloom and doom currently facing corn-based ethanol producers, U.S. Ethanol feedstock prices will come cheap, enabling the company margins to be higher than corned-based producers.

Ethanol production in Georgia is on the rise, and U.S. Ethanol will be the first commercial producer in the state when the plant goes online. First United Ethanol in Pelham, Georgia, is building a 100 million-gallon-per-year plant that is expected to be online by fall 2008, and cellulosic-based producer Range Fuels is building a 10 million-gallon-per-year plant in Soperton.

Additional Georgia ethanol plants are planned to be built in Augusta, Abbeville, Jesup, Ashburn and Conley.
