The Mid-Atlantic market region, thanks to projects in Maryland and North Carolina, leads the U.S. in terms of the value of project starts. Developers currently receive a 30% tax credit for solar installations constructed through 2021, encouraging growth in U.S. solar power.

Also in Grifton, Fresh Air Energy II LLC (San Francisco, California) is preparing to begin construction of its 56-MW PV2 Solar Energy Center. In Maryland, Great Bay Solar I LLC (Princess Anne, Maryland) is gearing up for a Phase II addition to its Great Bay Solar facility in Princess Anne. Algonquin Power & Utilities Corporation (Oakville, Ontario) is the project manager. The project will add 75 MW of power to the existing 75-MW plant. The project is planned for completion next summer. Among the highest-value planned projects is the 60-MW Bayshore photovoltaic (PV) solar plant in Lancaster County, California. The project will include three adjacent 20-MW solar facilities, each with 79,363 photovoltaic modules. The $160 million project is planned to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.
