Reports related to this article:

Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Mount Storm Power Station, which is located in Mount Storm, West Virginia, shut down its 598-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Unit 2 on Thursday morning, around 3:30 am, due to tube leakage in the reheat section of its boiler. The station is owned and operated by Dominion Virginia Power, a subsidiary of Dominion Resources Incorporated (NYSE:DOM) (Richmond, Virginia).

Plant sources said that the unit was taken offline to repair leaking tubes that could not be addressed during normal operation. Officials have begun making repairs, but continue to assess and analyze the issue; they also discovered four additional tubes that required repairs.

The unit is expected to return to service Sunday, July 19, if there are no delays.

The coal-fired plant has three generating units, with a total capacity of 1,710 MW when at full load.
