White Energy Hereford Rolls Out First Batch of Texas Ethanol

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held White Energy Hereford LLC (Hereford, Texas), a subsidiary of White Energy Holding Company LLC (Dallas, Texas), rolled out the first batch of Texas-made ethanol on Friday, January 18, 2008, marking the production of the first major fuel-ethanol plant in the state.

Construction of the estimated $200 million plant began in September 2006, and after a long start-up process, the plant is now fully operational. The plant was built by the design-build team of ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) and Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota).

Texas' first ethanol plant will have a nameplate capacity of 100 million gallons per year and process more than 36 million bushels of corn and grain sorghum annually to produce the fuel.

The company is also nearing completion of another plant in the Panhandle going by the name of Plainview Bioenergy LLC (Plainview, Texas) also being built by the ICM/Fagen team. The plant will be a 110 million-gallon-per-year facility, and the company is shooting for an April 2008 completion.

With the addition of its 48 million gallon per year Russell, Kansas, plant acquired from U.S. Energy Partners, White will have the capacity of producing upwards of 258 million gallons per year of fuel ethanol.
