To accommodate the increased space demands of customers in the Southeast, AmeriCold will more than double the size of their existing operation by some 93,000 square feet.

Plans call for the addition of some 2.9 million cubic feet of space that will have the capacity of storing 12,000 pallets of products, seven new blast cells and additional material handling systems and storage racking. Primus Builders, Incorporated (Woodstock, Georgia) has been selected as the prime contractor for the $12 million project and its subsidiary, Sub Zero Constructors (Los Angeles, California), will be responsible for installing the insulated wall panels and all aspects of the refrigeration system.

Construction is expected to take nine to ten months to complete and once the new area is ready for occupancy, the Albertville facility will have over 5 billion cubic feet of refrigerated storage area under roof.
