Arch Chemicals Plans For Construction of New CMP Unit in Arizona

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Arch Chemicals Incorporated (NYSE: ARJ) (Norwalk, Connecticut) recently announced plans to construct a new CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization) unit at their existing production site located in Queen Creek (Mesa), Arizona. This new production unit will produce slurries for polishing wafers used in the semiconductor industry.

Arch Chemicals plans to award a local A&E firm to complete preliminary engineering and expects to begin ordering long-lead equipment early next year. Construction for this approximately five million dollar project should begin by next June at the latest and be complete by the end of 2003.

Arch's Microelectronic Materials division operates two North American plants including the Queen Creek site and produces a variety of high purity chemicals for the electronics industry.
