Augusta Tissue on Track for Fourth Quarter Startup of New Tissue Machine in Georgia

Privately held Augusta Tissue, LLC (Augusta, Georgia) is moving fast toward an end of the year startup of a new tissue paper machine in Augusta, Georgia. Construction is in full swing with parts of the new machine, an Advantage DCT 100 by Metso, arriving daily, sole plates currently in place, and the winder scheduled for erection in the coming weeks. Augusta Tissue expects to be producing saleable tissue by January 2007, with full operational output of 100 tons per day.

Located at the site of the former Ponderosa Fibres of America mill, located in the Miracle Mile Industrial Park, the company completed the construction of a new 28,000 square-foot building earlier this year to house the new machine and upgrades to the existing de-inked pulp mill utilizing new and used equipment.

Engineering is being handled internally and Augusta Tissue hand selected Bkb Construction, Incorporated (Lena, Wisconsin) to construct and install the new machine.

The Augusta Tissue project is one of more than ten tissue paper-related capital projects that are slated to come online by 2008.
