Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japanese manufacturer Eakas Corporation (Peru, Illinois) has started construction on a $35 million expansion of its automotive parts and trim manufacturing plant in Peru, Illinois.
Expansion plans include constructing a 280,000-square-foot building to expand the existing 257,000-square-foot plant and bring the total manufacturing operations to 537,000 square feet. A new plating line will be installed to support the company's next generation of manufactured plastic parts and decorative trims. The addition consists of a new molding, plating, shipping and assembly facility at the existing plant. Completion of the new plating line will make Eakas the only manufacturer in North America to provide color molding, paint, hydrographics and chrome decorative finish components under one roof. Construction began in March, and overall completion is slated for the fall of this year. Approximately 25 new jobs will be created once the expansion has been completed.
Architecture Incorporated (Memphis, Tennessee) provided architectural design services for the expansion, while Vissering Construction Company (Streator, Illinois) and JB Contracting Corporation (La Salle, Illinois) are providing general contracting and electrical services for the expansion. Vissering Construction was selected as the general contractor from three other bidders, which included Graycor Construction Company and Stenstrom Construction & Design Build Company.
