Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Henan Electric Power Construction No.2 Company (HEPC2) (Zhengzhou, Henani), the project construction contractor and a subsidiary of the Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) (Beijing), completed the water pressure test for Boiler No. 1 at China Resources Power (Wenzhou) Company Limited's (Wenzhou, Zhejiang) Cangnan Coal-fired Power Plant on August 13, 2013, according to an announcement from POWERChina on the same day.

As reported, erection of Boiler No. 1 kicked off on June 18, 2012. Erection of the boiler was completed by HEPC2 Cangnan Project Office in a year. During the test, none of the 55,058 monitoring welding seams was found to have leakage.

China Resources Power's Cangnan Power Plant is located in the coastal area of Bacao Town, Cangnan County, in the southern area of the Zhejiang province. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 6,000 megawatts (MW), of which two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units are to be built in Phase I with a total investment of about $1.3 billion.

Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) is serving as the designer of the project. The main equipment for the project is supplied by Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (Chengdu, Sichuan). HEPC2 and Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), is responsible for the construction and erection of units 1 and 2, respectively.

The project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission on December 19, 2011. Construction kicked off in April 2012. According to the schedule, both units will begin operation in the first half of 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply of about 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the China East Power Grid via the connection of 500-kilovolt transmission lines.
