Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). EPCO Carbon Dioxide Products Incorporated (Monroe, Louisiana) is constructing a new carbon dioxide plant in Monroe, Wisconsin (Plant 1063523). The new plant will produce 400 tons per day of carbon dioxide and will be located on site with the Badger State Ethanol plant (Plant 1055789). EPCO, which acted as their own engineer and general contractor, started construction on the new plant at the beginning of the year and hope to have it complete and online by late summer 2004. This particular plant will serve markets in southern and central Wisconsin, eastern Iowa and northern Illinois.
A fifteen-year contract has been completed between the two companies, with Badger State Ethanol providing the gas created by fermenting corn to EPCO to be used as feedstock for the CO2 plant. The process utilized by these two plants will virtually eliminate odors because the fermented corn gas will be trapped and piped directly into the neighboring EPCO plant.
EPCO, established in 1987 has eight production locations, including three in Nebraska, two in Kansas, and one in Mississippi, Iowa, and Minnesota producing and distributing 1,800 tons per day of food grade liquid carbon dioxide throughout the Central United States.
