CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Awards Pipeline Construction Contracts for $400 Million Carthage to Perryville Pipeline Project
CenterPoint Energy expects to bid out the compression portion of the project during the week of July 10, 2006, and will make a contractor selection in August 2006
Released Friday, June 23, 2006
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Company (CEGT), a subsidiary of CenterPoint Energy Incorporated (NYSE:CNP)(Houston, Texas), has awarded four companies construction contracts for the planned Carthage, Texas to Perryville, Louisiana Pipeline Project. The contracts awarded relate to the pipeline portion of the project and not to the compression portion of the project.
The four companies awarded are Willbros RPI (Houston, Texas), Associated Pipeline Contractors (Houston, Texas), Sheehan Pipeline Company (Tulsa, Oklahoma) and HC Price (Dallas, Texas). Willbros RPI was awarded sections 4 & 5, which totals 71 miles of 42 diameter pipeline at the eastern end of the pipeline route and the other three contractors were awarded a single section each.
CenterPoint Energy expects to bid out the compression portion of the project during the week of July 10, 2006, and will make a contractor selection in August 2006. The compressor station portion of the project is composed of two proposed stations. The stations will be located in Jackson Parish, Louisiana and Panola County, Texas. Each station will be constructed in two phases. Each phase will involve the installation of a single 10,300 horsepower Solar Taurus T-70 turbine compressor unit. Once completed line compression will be supplied by four of these Solar units.
CenterPoint Energy recently received a draft environmental statement from the FERC and is currently in the 45-day comment period. CenterPoint Energy expects to receive its final environmental permit in August of 2006 and its final FERC certificate by October 15, 2006. All things considered, CenterPoint Energy expects to begin construction on the Carthage to Perryville Pipeline Project some time in October of 2006, with a fast-track completion scheduled for February 2007. The phase II compression facilities will be installed beginning in February of 2007, with a completion time slated for mid 2007.
