China Datang's Jiangbin Gas-fired Cogeneration Power Plant Begins Concrete Placement

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first bucket of concrete for the ring base of Cooling Tower 1 at Zhejiang Datang International Shaoxin Jiangbin Gas Power Company Limited's (Shaoxing, Zhejiang) Jiangbin gas-fired cogeneration power plant was put in place on December 12. This marks that the project has officially entered the implementation stage, according to Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), the construction and installation contractor for the project.

The concrete placement carried out in the current stage will be for two cooling towers. Moer than 20,000 cubic meters of concrete will be required, including about 12,000 cubic meters of concrete, which require more than 1,800 metric tons of reinforcing bars. Presently, various indicators of the Cooling Tower 1 are under control, and the excavation of Cooling Tower 2 will be carried out shortly.

The Jiangbin power plant, located in the coastal area of the Binhai New Town of Shaoxing city, will be built and funded by Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (SHA:601991) (Beijing), the listed flagship of China Datang Corporation (Beijing). The power plant plans to have four combined-cycle units for combined heat and power services. Two 390-megawatt (MW) F-class gas-fired combined-cycle units with associated heat supply pipeline works will be built in Phase I.

In order to solve the increasing power shortage, the government of the Zhejiang province has worked out a plan to build a batch of gas-fired power projects across the project in the beginning of this year. As part of the plan, the project received approval from the provincial development and reform commission early this month.

According to the schedule, the first unit will begin operating by the end of 2012, and the second unit will be put into operation by the end of June 2013.
