Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China Gezhouba Group No.1 Engineering Company Limited (Yichang, Hubei) successfully won the general contract for the engineering, construction and operation management of the aggregate and sand processing, concrete production, and water supply system for Baihe (Jiahe) Hydropower Station on the Hanjiang River. So far, the total contract amount of new bids won by the company has created a new record high of more than $600 million in the first month of 2012, according to China Gezhouba Group Corporation (Yichang, Hubei).

The Baihe (Jiahe) Hydropower Station, located at the boundary between Baihe County of Shaanxi province and Jiahe Town of Yunxi County in the Hubei province is the seventh cascade project planned on the Shaanxi section of the Hanjiang River.

The main purpose of the project will be power generation, but navigation of the river will also benefit. The project will have one concrete dam with a reservoir storage capacity of 251 million cubic meters under a normal pool level of 193.73 meters above sea level to support one river bed powerhouse, furnished with four 45-megawatt (MW) bulb-type hydraulic turbine generating units. Total installed capacity of the project is 180 MW, with an annual average power output of 631 million kilowatt-hours.

The project is developed by CGN Energy Development Company Limited (Shenzhen, Guangdong), a subsidiary of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (Shenzhen, Guangdong). Hubei Institute of Water Resources & Hydropower Engineering is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the project was officially held in June 2009. According to the design, the total construction period of the project will be 50 months. The construction period for the commissioning of the first unit will be 32 months. So far, the project owner is working together with the project designer and contractors for site preparation of the project.
