Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In November 2011, China's overall social power consumption reached 383.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), an increase of 9.91% year over year, according a report issued by China's National Energy Administration on December 14.
Click on image at right for a table showing major indicators for China's Power Industry in November 2011.From January through November 2011, the accumulative social power consumption of China reached 4.28 trillion kWh, an increase of 11.85% year over year. Of which, power consumption in the primary industries (agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, etc.) reached 94.5 billion kWh, an increase of 3.77%. That of the secondary industries (manufacturing, mining, electricity and water production, etc.) reached 3.2 trillion kWh, an increase of 12.13%. Power consumption in the the tertiary industries (hotels, services, insurance, etc.) reached 465.8 billion kWh, an increase of 13.74%. Household power consumption of urban and township residents reached 51.67 billion kWh, up 10% year over year.
From January through November 2011, the average accumulated utilization hours of power generation equipment in China reached 4,353 hours, an increase of 80 hours year over year. Of which, the average utilization hours of hydropower equipment reached 2,871 hours, a drop of 373 hours; and the average utilization hours of thermal power equipment reached 4,822 hours, an increase of 246 hours year over year.
From January through November 2011, the total installed capacity of power plants newly commissioned in China added 66.27 gigawatts (GW). Of which, the installed capacity of hydropower added 10.28 GW, and the installed capacity of thermal power added 45.65 GW.
From January through November 2011, China's investment in power source construction reached $48.33 billion. Of which, the infrastructure investment in hydropower reached $12.22 billion, that of thermal power reached $14.3 billion; that of nuclear power reached $10.25 billion. From January through November 2011, China's investment in grid construction reached $48.66 billion.
As of the end of November 2011, the installed capacity of power equipment in plants with capacity of more than 6 megawatts reached 990.71 GW, an increase of 9.7% year over year. Of which, the installed capacity of hydropower reached 192.39 GW, an increase of 7.7% year over year; that of thermal power reached 745.29 GW, an increase of 8.5%; that of nuclear power reached 11.91 GW, an increase of 10.1%.
