Cocktails at Home Drive $18 Million Investment at Illinois Distillery

As such, Diageo PLC (NYSE:DEO) (London) is stepping up efforts to meet demand for ready-to-serve cocktails with an $18 million investment at the company's distillery in Plainfield, Illinois. The company is building a 44,000-square-foot addition, increasing storage and processing capacity, upgrading a packaging line, as well as adding a full bottling line for cocktails. Construction is under way and the project is scheduled to be complete this fall.

With more than 400,000 square feet under roof, the Plainfield distillery is one of the largest combined spirits and malt beverage facility in the world with an average of 25 million cases per year of spirits and malt beverages.

Diageo's expansion plans are being carried out with regional and local firms, including the Dennis Group (Boston, Massachusetts), and a host of contractors within the state, including Block Electric (Shorewood), Lindblad Construction and Corsetti Steel Structures, both of Joliet.
