The domestic color steel sheet market of South Korea is increasing. It is mainly used for high-value added products of building exterior/interior materials and home appliances. Dongkuk Steel Company has the biggest market share of 34%, and KG Dongbu Steel Company has the second-biggest market share of 19%. Competition in the color steel sheet industry is expected to intensify more.

Dongkuk Steel Company will expand its color coated steel production with an annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes at its Busan plant. KG Dongbu Steel Company has already begun its construction of color coating manufacturing lines addition at its Dangjin plant and is preparing to make another investment for color steel sheet manufacturing after the ongoing construction is completed. Both companies' investment amount is approximately $81 million.
