Construction Begins on $70 Million Vinyl Flooring Plant in Georgia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Belgian vinyl flooring manufacturer IVC US Incorporated (Dalton, Georgia) has begun construction on a $70 million manufacturing plant in Dalton.

Plans involve the construction of a 525,000-square-foot building on a 44-acre site, with the installation of supporting equipment that will increase the company's automated manufacturing of vinyl flooring. The plant will house one of the longest vinyl lines in existence. Construction started in November, and overall completion is slated for the spring of 2011. Approximately 115 jobs will be created. The plant will include state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution facilities and produce high-end vinyl flooring. This will be the company's first manufacturing plant in the United States. The company currently operates a 220,000-square-foot distribution center in Dalton, and a distribution center in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

IVC has resisted the recession because sheet vinyl sales are increasing and are stronger than flooring sales. The company's fiberglass-backed product is changing the U.S. vinyl market because of increased demand for hard-floor surfaces.

Ruark & Wyatt Architects PC (Decatur, Georgia) was selected to provide architectural services and The Conlan Company (Marietta, Georgia) was selected to provide general construction services for the plant.

IVC US Incorporated, a subsidiary of privately owned parent company IVC Group, was founded in 2002. IVC Group is considered the largest residential sheet vinyl manufacturer in Europe.
