Coshocton Ethanol Breaks Ground on New Fuel Ethanol Plant in Ohio

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Investor-owned Coshocton Ethanol, LLC (Coshocton, Ohio) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Altra, Incorporated (Los Angeles, California), held a groundbreaking silver shovel ceremony this week to kick off preliminary construction activity on a new 60 million-gallon per year fuel ethanol plant that will be located in Coshocton, Ohio. The plant will convert some 23 million bushels per year of corn into the renewable fuel and also produce distiller’s dried grains. Construction costs to build the plant are estimated at $117 million.

The plant is being built through a joint effort between Delta T Corporation (Williamsburg, Virginia), who will provide the licensed ethanol process technology, ethanol and industrial plant builder T. E. Ibberson Company (Hopkins, Minnesota), and TIC (The Industrial Company) out of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Construction is expected to take fifteen months to complete and the plant is scheduled to be operational by October of 2007, just in time for the new corn harvest. Once the plant becomes operational, approximately 40 new jobs will be created.

Ethanol development in Ohio has been slow considering the state ranks in the top ten for bushels of corn grown. Currently, only two other ethanol plants are under construction in the state and are being developed by Greater Ohio Ethanol in Lima and Harrison Ethanol in Cadiz. Another dozen projects are in the early development phase in Ohio and once all the developing capacity comes online, the state is forecast to have around 775 million gallons of annual ethanol capacity online by mid-2008.

Industrial Info's Ethanol Production Database provides a comprehensive outline of all current development activities in the emerging synthetic fuels market. This database covers 123 ethanol plants currently in operation and 234 plants under development. It also covers 22 biodiesel plants and 55 biodiesel plants under development.
