Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream Holdings, Incorporated (NASDAQ: DRYR) a subsidiary of Nestle S.A. (OTC: NSRGY) (Vevey, Switzerland) has begun a $100 million investment to expand their Bakersfield, California ice cream manufacturing plant (Plant 1007974).

Foundations are currently being poured at the site located at 7301 District Boulevard in Bakersfield, and the structural steel is expected to begin going up in a couple of weeks on a 400,000 square foot building addition that will triple the facilities current capacity for producing ice cream treats.

Dreyer's selected The Dennis Group (Springfield, Massachusetts) as the prime contractor for the project and The Stellar Group (Jacksonville, Florida) will have responsibilities for the refrigeration system installations.

The project is on a fast track construction schedule and the building portion of the expansion is expected to be completed by September of this year.

Five new hi-speed production lines will be installed with the first line scheduled to be operational by January of 2005. The additional four lines will be phased in with the last one going into operation by mid 2005.

Once completed, the plant will grow to approximately 650,000 square feet total and have the capacity to produce over 70 million gallons of ice cream annually.

Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream Holdings, Incorporated and its subsidiaries manufacture and distribute a full spectrum of ice cream and frozen dessert products. They currently operate seven ice cream manufacturing plants across the country.
