Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Dynea Canada Limited (Mississauga, Ontario) plans to construct their fifth plant site in Canada to produce both formaldehyde and formaldehyde resins. Construction of this new plant will take place in Sexsmith, Alberta at the site of a Canola mill formerly owned by Northern Lite Canada.
An engineering firm for the estimated $40 million project will be selected during the first quarter of next year and construction in the field is expected to begin early next summer. The former Canola mill offers Dynea the opportunity to utilize an existing infrastructure and achieve some significant savings in site development costs.
Formaldehyde is a colorless liquid widely used in the formation of plastics, resins, sterilizing agents, and preservatives. The largest single use of formaldehyde is for production of particleboard and plywood used in the housing industry.
