Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Cielo Wind Power LP sold its 150-megawatt (MW) Salt Fork Wind Project to EDF Renewable Energy (EDF). The windfarm, now under construction, is located in the Texas Panhandle, near Donley and Gray counties.
The Salt Fork Wind Project will consist of 75 V100-2.0 turbines, each with a capacity of 2 MW, from Vestas. Commercial operations are expected to begin by the end of 2016.
EDF Renewable Energy has commissioned 872 MW of wind energy since first entering the Texas market in late 2011. It took EDF 18 months to close the acquisition and sign a power-purchase agreement with Garland Power and Light.
Acquiring Salt Fork has increased EDF's Texas portfolio to 1.2 gigawatts' worth of operating, under-construction, or in-development projects.
