Electric Power Design Institute Wins Engineering Contracts for Two Combined-Heat-and-Power Projects in Inner Mongolia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute (Wuhan, Hubei province), a subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (Beijing), has won a survey and engineering contract for two combined-heat-and-power projects in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous region. The projects are the 600-megawatt (MW) Dalu Coal Gangue Thermal Power Plant and the 1,200-MW Wuhai Thermal Power Plant expansion.

The Dalu plant will be built and operated by Inner Mongolia Mengtai Buliangou Coal Industry Company Limited (Ordos, Inner Mongolia), which was established in May 2006 by the Huadian Coal Industry Group Company (Beijing) and the Inner Mongolia Mengtai Coal Power Group Company (Ordos). The project will have two 300-MW air-cooled circulating fluidized bed combined-heat-and-power units by comprehensive utilization of coal gangue from the 10 million-ton Buliangou coal mine currently under construction.

The expansion project in Wuhai will be built and operated by North United Power Corporation (Hohhot, Inner Mongolia), a joint venture of China Huaneng Group (Beijing) (51%), CITIC Pacific Limited (Hong Kong) (20%), Inner Mongolia Power Investment Company (Hohhot) (19%) and China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (Beijing) (10%). The project will be built with two 600-MW supercritical air-cooled combined heat and power units, currently making it one of China's largest combined-heat-and-power projects.
