Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) (Houston, Texas) has announced that it will expand the butane isomerization unit at its facility in Mont Belvieu, Texas. Enterprise currently has 116,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) of butane isomerization capacity at Mont Belvieu, and the project would add 30,000 BBL/d more. Butane isomerization converts butane into iso-butane, which is used as a feedstock in the petrochemical and refining industries.
At the same facility, the company is planning the addition of an iso-butane dehydrogenation (IBDH) unit. The project could kick off early this year and be completed by the end of 2019. Optimized Process Designs LLC (Katy, Texas) is providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) on the project, which has an estimated total investment value of $1 billion. The project will use technology from Honeywell International (NYSE:HON) (Morris Plains, New Jersey). For more information, see Industrial Info's project report. The project will be built on a 17-acre site next to Enterprise's recently completed propane dehydrogenation unit.
Among Enterprise's other large projects is the Midland-to-Rancho Sealy crude oil pipeline in Texas. Construction on the 416-mile, 24-inch-diameter pipeline began in the first half of 2017 and is expected to be completed this summer. The pipeline will transport 450,000 BBL/d of crude oil and condensate from the Permian Basin to Enterprise's station in Sealy, Texas. Holloman Corporation (Houston, Texas) is providing general contracting work on the project, which has an overall estimated TIV of $760 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Also in the Permian, Enterprise plans to construct a cryogenic natural gas processing plant expansion at its existing facility near Coyanosa, Texas, in the Delaware Basin. The project involves adding 150 million cubic feet per day of processing capacity to bring the total plant capacity to 300 million cubic feet per day. Construction is planned to kick off early this year and be completed in late summer. The project has an estimated TIV of $150 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
At the company's facility in Mont Belvieu, Enterprise is underway with construction of a grassroot ethylene pipeline and storage cavern conversion. The 24-mile pipeline will transport ethylene to the company's proposed Morgan's Point ethylene export terminal. In addition, an existing storage cavern will be converted to store 5.3 million barrels of ethylene with an injection/withdrawal rate of 2,000 barrels per hour, which will be expandable to 4,000 barrels per hour. Construction on the $50 million project began last summer and is expected to be completed early this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
