EToH Energy Expects to Begin Construction on Manitoba Ethanol Plant this Spring

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held EToH Energy LLC (Naples, Florida), a start-up company formed by brothers Curtis and Ernest Sittenfeld, have secured financing and are awaiting final permit approvals to start constructing an ethanol project in Manitoba Canada by early spring of this year.

EToH, which got its name from the chemical symbol for ethyl alcohol, had originally planned to build a plant in Tampa, Florida, to take advantage of the area's abundance of sugar cane feedstock. After long consideration, the company put those plans on the back burner until more research is done on perfecting cellulosic feedstock and the use of sugarcane bagasse.

The company, along with Canadian investors, is now focusing its efforts on the small town of Russell, Manitoba, just 125 miles north of the U.S./Canada border at the site for its first production facility.

The plant will utilize wheat feedstock to produce 63 million gallons of fuel ethanol annually. The company is working with ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) on the licensed ethanol-production technology and will utilize Canadian contractor North America Construction LTD (Morriston, Ontario) as the plant builder.

Construction on the $185 million plant is expected to start around March or April of this year and take 16 to 18 months to complete. Once online, the plant will be the second commercial-scale ethanol plant in the province. Husky Oil currently operates a 130 million-liter ethanol plant in Minnedosa, Manitoba.

Additional ethanol plants in Manitoba are expected to be built in Killarney, Beausejour and Hartney.
