ExxonMobil Completes Construction of $375 Million Cogen Project in Wyoming

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). ExxonMobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas) has completed construction and startup testing for the $375 Million LaBarge Shute Creek Power Station located in La Barge, Lincoln County, Wyoming.

Construction for the project started in May 2002 and was completed in April 2004. ExxonMobil began full commercial operation of the project in July 2004. The plant consists of three 42-megawatt natural gas-fired GE Power Systems MS6001B combustion turbine generators and three (unfired) Deltak heat recovery steam generators that will supply both power and steam to the ExxonMobil Shute Creek Treating Facility. The new project will operate in a simple-cycle configuration capable of generating 125 megawatts of new power and will replace the existing gas sulfur recovery units that were once utilized at the plant.

Jacobs Engineering Group Incorporated (NYSE:JEC), headquartered in Pasadena, California, performed the engineering duties for the project. The Industrial Company (TIC) located in Steamboat, Colorado, was the general contractor.
