Farmington Electric Utility System Begins Commercial Operation of 60-Megawatt Power Plant

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Farmington Electric Utility System (Farmington, New Mexico) has started full commercial operation of the 60-megawatt, $48 million Bluffview Power Station in the town of Farmington, New Mexico.

Construction for the project started in December 2003 and was completed in December 2004. Farmington Electric began full commercial operation of the project this week. The Bluffview station is configured as a 1-on-1 combined-cycle consisting of a 45-megawatt natural gas-fired GE Power Systems LM6000 SPRINT combustion turbine generator attached to a Deltak heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). The hot exhaust gases from the combustion turbine will be directed through the HRSG and utilized to power a 10-megawatt GE Power Systems condensing steam turbine generator, all of which will be capable of generating a total of 60 megawatts for the growing needs of Farmington Electric's customers.

SNC-Lavalin Constructors Incorporated, of Redmond, Washington, a subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin Incorporated (OTC:SNCAF)(Montreal, Quebec) , provided the turnkey services for the project.
