Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The cold-state functional testing for Unit 1 of Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Company Limited's (Ningde, Fujian) Ningde Nuclear Power Station began on November 28, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) (Shenzhen, Guangdong) announced on December 1.
During the cold-state functional testing, important works such as the water pressure test for the primary circuit, functional test, and inspection of main and auxiliary system in the primary circuit, together with performance and safety function verification for key equipment such as the main pumps will be carried out. "The successful achievement of cold test for Unit 1 lays an important foundation for the commercial operation of the unit in next year," the CGNPC in its announcement.
Ningde Nuclear Power Station, located on the coast of the East China Sea in Qinyu Town, Fuding City, a county-level city under the jurisdication of Ningde city, Fujian province, has a total planned capacity of six 1,000-megawatt (MW) units using improved second-generation advanced pressurized water reactors to be built in two phases. Construction of units 1 and 2 unit officially began on November 21, 2008, and June 17, 2009, respectively.
The Phase I project is jointly invested by Ningde Nuclear Power Company Limited (Ningde, Fujian), a project company jointly invested by CGNPC, Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (Beijing, China) and Fujian Coal Industry (Group) Company Limited (Fuzhou, China). China Nuclear Power Engineering Company Limited (Shenzhen), a subsidiary of CGNPC, is serving as the general contractor of the project. China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Company Limited (Nanjing, Jiangsu) and China Nuclear Industry 23rd Construction Corporation (Beijing), two subsidiaries of China Nuclear Engineering Group Corporation (Beijing), are responsible for the construction and the nuclear island erection works of the project, respectively.
According to the planning, the total investment for Phase I will be about $7.2 billion, and all four units in Phase I are expected to begin operation by the end of 2015.
