France to Secure Financing for Six New Nuclear Reactors by Year-End

The government is awaiting a revised cost estimate from EDF while working on a financing structure to meet the projects' requirements as the costs are now expected to exceed euro 60 billion (US$62.5 billion), significantly higher than the initial estimate of euro 51.7 billion (US$53.8 billion).

EDF has already invested euro 5 billion (US$5.2 billion) in research and development for the reactors, which are slated for construction at existing nuclear sites in Penly, Gravelines and Bugey.
