Among these is the replacement of Terminal D at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. The project, which kicked off in 2019, entails demolishing the existing 20-year-old terminal and constructing a new 780,00-square-foot terminal, installing 15 gates and jet bridges, and constructing two piers and new parking facilities. The $1.5 billion project is expected to wrap up by the end of 2024. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Gilbane also is working on a project involving underwater transportation. The company is providing general contracting services for the retool and expansion of General Dynamics Corporation's (NYS:GD) (Reston, Virginia) submarine components manufacturing facility in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. This $792 million project also kicked off in 2019 and entails expanding two buildings by a total of 600,000 square feet, installing a floating dry dock, and retooling and modernizing the 400,000-square-foot submarine and shipyard facility. Jacobs Engineering Group Incorporated (NYSE:J) (Dallas, Texas) is providing design-build services on the project, which is expected to be completed in the first half of next year. Gilbane has a firm footing in both the production and research sides of the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry. Among its pharma production projects is Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA's (Bad Homburg vor der Hohe, Germany) expansion of its injectables production and fill/finish plant in Melrose Park, Illinois. Gilbane is providing general contracting services on the construction of four new buildings with a total of 130,000 square feet that will house space to develop, produce, warehouse, fill and finish generic sterile injectable drug products. Construction began in late 2017 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

On the pharma research side, Gilbane is at work on a research and development lab incubator building for Hobbs Brook Management LLC (Waltham, Massachusetts). Following the demolition of a former office building, Gilbane is constructing a five-story, approximately 500,000-square-foot LEED-Silver-certified building to be equipped for multiple tenants for the research of life sciences, biotechnology and other disciplines. The project kicked off in mid-2019 and is expected to wrap up early next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
