Gilbane Passes Midway Point on Construction of $87 Million Pharmacy Building at University of Connecticut

Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The University of Connecticut (UConn) (Storrs, Connecticut) is in the midst of building its biggest capital project ever. The $87 million pharmacy building will house laboratories, offices, and academic space for UConn's School of Pharmacy. The School of Pharmacy's outstanding academic ranking is one of the reasons why U.S. News and World Reports named UConn the top public University in New England.

Designed by architect Davis Brody Bond, LLP (New York, New York), Diversified Technology Consultants (North Haven, Connecticut) provided civil and structural engineering design and landscape architectural design services for the 200,000 square foot building. Gilbane Construction (Providence, Rhode Island) began construction of the project in 2002, which is expected to be complete in 2005.

The new pharmacy building is being funded by UCONN 2000, a $1 billion, ten-year program to enhance, renew, and rebuild UConn's main campus in Storrs and the regional campuses. Uconn's pharmacy program leads to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) and also offers graduate programs in the fields of medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, and pharmacology/toxicology.
