Indian Oil Prepares for Next Overhaul at Mathura Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Indian Oil Corporation Limited (BSE: 530965)(New Delhi) will schedule a maintenance overhaul by the third quarter of 2011 at the 160,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Mathura Refinery, located in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

The Mathura Refinery is one of ten refineries that the Indian Oil Corporation Company owns and operates in India. The company has a combined refining capacity of 1.21 million barrels per day (BBL/d).

The future planned turnaround, which will mainly entail cleaning and inspection work, will be carried out in the refinery's two blocks: the Old Process Units Block and the New Process Units Block. These consist of 22 operational units, such as the 160,000-BBL/d Crude Unit; the 30,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Converter; the 20,000-BBL/d Visbreaker; and the 24,000-BBL/d Hydrocracker. The overhaul will start by the third quarter of 2011 and is expected to last approximately 30 non-production days.

General maintenance overhauls at the the refinery are performed every two years. The last overhaul was recently performed in July 2009. Authorities expect to keep most units online until the shutdown. The bidding process generally starts one year before maintenance work is set to begin.
