Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Statoil ASA's (NYSE:STO) 186,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Mongstad, Norway, will begin scheduled maintenance on Monday, August 30.
The facilities at the Mongstad complex in western Norway have been operational since 1970 and include a refinery, the Vestprosess natural gas liquids fractionation plant and a crude oil terminal.
Located north of Bergen, the refinery is the largest in Norway and provides intermediate storage for more than one-third of all crude produced by Statoil on the Norwegian continental shelf.
The overhaul, which will entail mainly cleaning and inspection work, will be carried out in both of the refinery's blocks: T-101 and P&ID. The turnaround will affect the 186,000-BBL/d crude unit; the 28,000-BBL/d delayed coker; the 17,000-BBL/d CCR; the 8,000-BBL/d reformer; and other units. The turnaround will last approximately 30 non-production days.
The 61,000 BBL/d FCCU unit will remain online during the turnaround.
General maintenance overhauls at the refinery generally are performed every three to five years. The bidding process usually starts one year before maintenance work is set to begin.
