Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Mississippi Polymers Technologies, Incorporated (Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi) plans to construct a full-scale specialty polymers plant in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. This $20 million plant will be located on Webre Road next to their existing specialty polymer pilot scale plant.
Compton Engineering (Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi) and Hargrove and Associates (Mobile, Alabama) provided the engineering services for the pilot scale plant that has been in operation since October 2001. Mississippi Polymers will expand the pilot scale plant as part of a phase II plan to increase capacity before they move forward with construction of the new facility. Hargrove and Associates will provide the engineering services for the phase II expansion in 2003. The new plant, which is scheduled to commence construction in the later part of 2004, is scheduled to be completed the end of 2005.
Mississippi Polymers has production facilities in Bienville, Mississippi and Pearlington, Mississippi. They manufacture Parmax self reinforced polymer (SRP), which is the first thermoplastic rigid-rod polymer. They are called self-reinforced polymers because of the rigid backbone that stiffens and strengthens the polymer, which makes the Parmax SRP's 2-4 times stiffer and 2-3 times stronger than any other thermoplastic produced.
